A legacy of kindness and opportunity.
Leave a gift in your Will to help future generations thrive at Bootham
A gift in your Will to Bootham School is a lasting act of generosity, one that reflects your values and helps future generations of students grow into thoughtful, compassionate and courageous people. Bootham is a school rooted in Quaker principles – simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship. These values continue to guide everything we do and they live on through our students.
What is a gift in your Will?
A gift in your Will (also known as a legacy) is a donation made after you've taken care of your loved ones. It can be a percentage of your estate, a fixed amount of money or a specific item of value. Every gift, no matter the size, helps Bootham continue its mission to provide an exceptional education that shapes not only great students, but also compassionate and thoughtful people.
Why give
Bootham is a registered charity and gifts in Wills play a vital role in helping us plan for the future. A legacy gift can support the area of school life closest to your heart, whether that's bursaries, music, science, Quaker education or wellbeing. Or you may choose to leave an unrestricted gift, allowing the School to direct your gift to where it's needed most in the years to come.
How to give
Leaving a gift in your Will is straightforward. If you already have a Will, your solicitor can help you add a simple codicil. If you're writing a Will for the first time, they can include Bootham as a beneficiary from the start. We're also very happy to help. If you or your solicitor would like suggested wording or further information, please do get in touch with the Development Office for a confidential conversation. There's no pressure or obligation, just support if and when you need it.
The impact of your giving
Legacy gifts have already made a real difference. Even modest gifts can have a powerful impact. A recent legacy donation is now supporting three students through fully-funded bursaries, giving them a place to feel safe, inspired and cared for, and an education that will shape the course of their lives. These are life-changing opportunities, not just for the students, but for the whole Bootham community, which is enriched by their presence, perspectives and potential.
Your legacy, their future
By remembering Bootham in your Will, you'll be passing on something priceless – a way of living, learning and leading that the world so urgently needs. Together, we can make a difference for generations to come.
